…the bullets aren’t real.

We frequently deal with pressure in our day-to-day activities, regardless of role, location or function. It is often said that how we react to situations, define our character and shape the perceptions of those around us. Experience has taught me that very few things that we believe to be terrible rarely are, when it comes to working with Information Technology Organizations. One of my previous managers had an interesting perspective on this topic. No matter what happens in the corporate workplace, the bullets aren’t real.

Clearly, the following is not an epiphany, but fear keeps individuals from achieving great things. I often have the privilege of interacting with many professionals in the technology field and it amazes me how pervasive this fact is in the industry. All thing being equal, individuals tend to spend more time on preventing failures than enabling success. This is something that I firmly believe, prevents many individuals from growing within a company and ultimately results in frustration, unhappiness and eventual movement to another work environment.

Ideological banter? Maybe – but the point is that everyday is an opportunity to learn something, do something and create something!

…make wise choices.
